Rolta's acquisition strategy is clear and focused. It will acquire companies, business divisions or technologies - that are at the cutting-edge, synergistic with its lines of businesses, have an established track record, give Rolta access to new markets, are culturally compatible, enable the Company to move up the value-chain and are accretive to shareholder value.
In line with this philosophy, Rolta has made various strategic acquisitions. For example, Rolta acquired Orion Technology, Inc., a Canadian software and integration company specializing in enterprise web-GIS solutions. This enabled Rolta to distinctively position itself as a provider of spatial integration consulting, software and implementation services for global markets; for users who have a growing need for innovative, web-based, platform-neutral Geospatial solutions to efficiently integrate their GIS resources to meet the information needs of their constituents. Orion is now known as Rolta Canada Limited.
By acquiring TUSC, a US based company having a global reputation as a source of unsurpassed expertise in high-end consulting for large-scale ERP applications, Fusion Middleware and core database technologies based on Oracle applications; Rolta gained significant expertise and acquired advanced Intellectual Property, such as iPerspective™ which supports the rapid creation of Web Services, as well as data mining and visualization tools. TUSC is now known as Rolta TUSC, Inc.
The recent acquisition of Whittmanhart Consulting (formerly Infinis) has brought in considerable strengths, due to their established track record in Oracle's Hyperion products and major focus on Enterprise Performance Management, thereby strategically positioning Rolta to address the Business Intelligence domain on the Oracle database and application layers. This organization has been merged with Rolta TUSC, Inc.
In December, 2008, Rolta acquired Piocon Technologies Inc, based in Chicago, USA. This organization provides Business Intelligence solutions for critical equipment reliability and operational intelligence of Owner-Operators, for operations in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Mining, Power, Pharmaceuticals and Nuclear Power industries, ensuring cost savings and high returns on infrastructure investments. This organization has been merged with Rolta TUSC, Inc.
In addition Rolta has launched state-of-the-art solutions for Earth Science applications. These solutions are based on an exceptional combination of Rolta’s existing repository of intellectual property and key technologies acquired at the source code level, from various companies worldwide including, PCI Geomatics. Rolta Earth Science solutions provide some of the most advanced Geo-Imaging and Photogrammetry capabilities, including - knowledge based & neural network classification, automatic change detection and next generation stereo-imagery ingestion, triangulation, DEM, orthophoto generation & map finishing, from multi-sensor satellite and aerial imagery. These solutions are easily configurable to meet specific high end Enterprise Geospatial needs of organizations across diverse segments like: Defense, Homeland security, Space, Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, Water resources, Town & Urban planning, Land Records, Telecom and Utilities.
