The best way to conceptualize the battlefield is to view a continuous description of the terrain surface where details and height information are displayed in 3D. This solution provides mission critical answers for realistic visualization of the terrain to the War fighter.
Rolta provides 3D terrain models, which can be textured with a shaded relief, or with a wire mesh, provide a realistic visualization of the terrain with the look and feel of a classic sand model. To represent the terrain in its actual texture the associated images are draped over the terrain model to create photographic quality 3D visualization of the terrain. Military planners can view these models from all direction.
The most important characteristics of 3D terrain models is the ability to navigate through the model by walking, flying over it, or by examining a specific area of interest. Walking implies moving on the model surface and flying implies visualizing the model from a height in three dimensions with the capability to navigate in any direction. Examination is a view where you can view the entire model in any perspective and rotate the view in three dimensions
