Mumbai, 16 October, 2002: Rolta India Limited, India's premier CAD/CAM/GIS solutions and services provider, has again been ranked, by Forbes Global amongst the top 200 Best Companies in the World (having sales of less than US$ 1 Billion). This ranking reaffirms Rolta's position as a leading IT services and solutions provider in Asia. While India has six software companies in the list, no software company from any other Asian country has made it to the list.

Expressing his pleasure, Mr. K K Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, Rolta India Ltd. said, "This ranking, for the second year in a row, is a clear re-affirmation of our capabilities and achievements, made possible due to the support and good wishes of our Stakeholders - Customers, Shareholders, Roltaites, Business Partners and Bankers. I firmly believe, that our ability to constantly re-invent ourselves, to remain relevant in the face of relentless change, and yet remain focussed on our core competencies, provides a solid foundation for future growth, and creating superior value for all our stakeholders."

Although Forbes Global raised the bar for inclusion in the list from US$ 500 million (annual sales) to US$ 1 Billion, thirteen Indian companies have made it to this year's list as against 10 companies in the 2001 list. There has also been a churning among the Indian companies in the list over the past year with the new entrants being Mastek, Polaris, Visualsoft, ICICI Bank, Asian Paints, Indo-Gulf and Britannia.

Forbes Global, the international edition of Forbes, the leading American Business Magazine will present this list in its edition of October 28, 2002.To put together the list, Forbes Global began with a universe of 20,000 publicly quoted companies with revenues of less than $1 billion. This year Forbes Global has raised the bar for inclusion in the list from $500 million (annual sales) a year ago to $1 billion in 2002. In order to arrive at the final 200, the companies were scrutinised on the basis of their profitability, earnings and sales growth.

"Forbes Global also drew upon the expertise and insights of our network of sources - fund managers, analysts and entrepreneurs - to spot companies with brief operating histories but a promising future," a statement issued by Forbes Global said.
