Rolta declares impressive Annual Results for 2001
Mumbai: Rolta India Limited, India's premier IT solutions and services provider, has announced impressive results for the financial year ended December 31, 2001. The total income in 2001 was Rs. 301.46 crores reflecting a significant growth of 18.3% over the total income of Rs. 254.87 crores last year.
The net profit after depreciation and provision for taxation was Rs. 105.46 crores signifying a growth of 16.1% over the net profit of Rs. 90.86 crores in the last financial year. The earning per share has shown a healthy growth of 12.2% to Rs. 16.6 as compared to Rs. 14.8 for the last financial year. The profit before depreciation and tax for 2001 was Rs. 151.00 crores reflecting a growth of 24.3% over the earlier year's figure of Rs. 121.49 crores.
The Board of Directors has recommended a higher dividend of 30.0% as compared to 27.5% dividend paid last year. The net worth of the Company has also shown a healthy growth and stands at Rs. 360.90 crores as on December 31, 2001, signifying the intrinsic strength of the Company.
During the course of the company's progress, Rolta has been recognized in India and Internationally for its achievements. The Company has been Super Ranked 3rd amongst the Top 1000 Indian Companies by Business Standard, in March 2002, based on CAGR across various financial performance parameters and market capitalization, between 1994-95 & 2000-01. Rolta was also named amongst the 200 Best Companies in the world by Forbes Global (revenues up to US$ 500 million), in October 2001. Rolta was amongst the ten Indian companies, who made it to this elite group, which included Infosys, HDFC, Cipla & others.
Rolta continues to be the undisputed leader in the CAD/CAM/GIS segment, in India, and is considered as a leading worldwide player in Geo-engineering services. The company offers end-to-end Solutions and Services for Geo-engineering, Plant Design Automation, Mechanical Design Automation and Collaborative Product Commerce.
During 2001, Rolta launched high-end value-added solutions and services for integrating & web-enabling Engineering and Business applications. In keeping with its philosophy of offering leading edge technologies to its customers, the Company introduced comprehensive Mapping/GIS solutions for Public Safety Agencies like Police, Fire and Ambulance services. Rolta also launched new generation resource management solutions like Marian and InTools for the Plant Engineering industry, in exclusive partnership with Intergraph Corporation, USA. The company achieved major breakthroughs in Europe for providing Mechanical Design Automation & Collaborative Product Commerce services and successfully executed complex projects for leading companies in UK, Germany, Holland, etc.
Rolta launched its eBusiness and eSecurity services across the world in 2001. Comprehensive Services and Solutions using best-of-breed tools and best practices methodology are provided by a team of more than 250 in-house eBusiness professionals, of which, over 75 eSecurity consultants are certified as Lead Auditors under BS 7799. Rolta is now also recognized as one of the select few 'Premier' level partners of IBM, from India. In addition, the company has an alliance with Computer Associates to provide a wide range of services, globally.
RoltaNet - the Company's Internet Services Division continues to be Mumbai's #1 ISP and is fully geared-up to exploit the emerging opportunity of Internet Telephony Services, as per the new policy.
To continue its aggressive growth, Rolta has established in Atlanta - USA, an advanced Engineering software and eServices center. This new building, being inaugurated on April 15, 2002 is spread over 26,000 sq.ft. and will also be the new US headquarters of Rolta International Inc.
In the last year, Rolta has invested over US$ 6 million in its overseas subsidiaries, including the formation of another subsidiary in Europe - Rolta Deutschland GmbH, Germany. The subsidiary in UAE - Rolta Middle East has been strategically moved to Dubai Internet City. These new initiatives are expected to add thrust to the Company's business opportunities in these geographies.
Further, Rolta is creating, in Mumbai, additional 250,000 sq.ft. of state-of-the-art facilities for providing world-class IT solutions and services in engineering and eBusiness environments. To augment its domain expertise, the company added 450 technical professionals in 2001.
